A Data Fiduciary is the person or organization that decides why and how personal data will be processed.
For example, when an online store collects your name, address, and contact details to deliver an order, the store is the Data Fiduciary.
Section 2(i) of the Act states that this role comes with responsibilities, including giving proper notice, taking reasonable security safeguards, responding to Data Principal requests, and reporting personal data breaches as required.
Simply put, the organization that decides what personal data is needed and what it will be used for is the Data Fiduciary.
