Shopify's Legacy Customer Accounts, previously known as Classic Customer Accounts is an account type requiring customers to log in using an email and password, with accounts created through invitations or direct signups.
With legacy customer accounts:
- Customers create and log in to their accounts via Shopify’s default login interface.
- It stores and manages account details such as name, email, addresses, and order history.
- The login and account experience is consistent across Shopify stores using this setup, with minimal customization.
You can configure Single Sign-On on your Shopify legacy customer accounts with your desired identity provider like Azure B2C, Microsoft Entra ID, Auth0, Okta and even connect your own custom identity provider.
Note: Our SSO application is fully compatible with both Shopify customer accounts and legacy accounts.
