Android MDM

Why is Android device enrollment failing due to network blocking?

28 views 1

The following error message frequently appears during the enrollment process:

Error during Android MDM enrollment

Android device enrollment may fail when network restrictions block access to required services. Successful Android Enterprise enrollment depends on communication with Google Play, Android provisioning services, and your Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform.

Required Endpoints and Protocols

Your network must allow access to the following:

Category Endpoints to Whitelist
Google Core Services *.google.com, *.googleapis.com, *.gstatic.com, *.gvt1.com
Android / Play Services play.google.com
MDM Server https://www.endpointdefence.com

How do I know if this is a network issue?

  • The device setup or enrollment process does not start
  • The setup freezes or gets stuck
  • Managed applications fail to install

How can I quickly test if the network is the problem?

Try enrolling the device using a mobile hotspot or an unrestricted external network. If enrollment works outside your corporate network, your firewall or proxy is blocking required services.

What should I do to fix this?

  • Contact your IT or network administration team
  • Whitelist all required Google, Android, and MDM endpoints listed above
  • Ensure HTTPS traffic over port 443 is fully allowed

Note: Android Enterprise relies heavily on Google Play services. Even minor restrictions on Google domains can prevent successful enrollment and device setup.
